● Coordinate tax returns, payments, extensions, reconciliations, notices, and supporting documentation with internal teams, external service providers, and tax advisors.
● Maintain filing calendars, registrations, nexus analyses, exemption certificates, and other critical SALT records.
● Manage relationships with external tax consultants and compliance providers, helping ensure deliverables are timely, accurate, well documented, and aligned with BETA’s business needs.
● Partner with external advisors on technical tax research, state and local tax audits, notices, refund opportunities, voluntary disclosures, and other tax matters.
● Research and document tax issues involving taxability, sourcing, exemptions, use tax, apportionment, state income tax, and other multistate matters.
● Advise internal stakeholders on tax considerations related to new products, suppliers, operations, contracts, incentives, and business initiatives.
● Partner with Accounting on tax accruals, financial reporting support, audit requests, and documentation of significant tax positions.
● Work with Procurement and Supply Chain to identify and mitigate use-tax exposure, improve vendor tax treatment, and support exemption opportunities.
● Monitor changes in state and local tax law with external advisors and assess potential impacts to BETA’s operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Business, or a related field.
● 5+ years of relevant state and local tax experience in a corporate tax department, public accounting firm, or similarly complex environment.
● Demonstrated experience with sales and use tax compliance, plus working knowledge of state income tax, franchise tax, business tax, or other non-income taxes.
● Strong understanding of multistate tax concepts, including nexus, taxability, sourcing, exemptions, use tax, apportionment, and audit support.
● Experience working effectively with external tax advisors, compliance providers, and consultants.
● Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and project-management skills.
● Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while collaborating effectively across internal and external teams.
