As part of our continued growth in Malaysia, we are looking for a highly motivated and results-driven Business Development Manager to drive new business acquisition and expand our enterprise customer base.
Position Overview
As an Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving enterprise sales growth across Malaysia by identifying new business opportunities, engaging with senior executives, and helping organizations solve their business challenges through AvePoint's solutions.
You will own the full sales cycle, from prospecting and qualification through proposal development, negotiation, and closing. This role is ideal for a hunter-minded sales professional who thrives in a high-growth technology environment and is passionate about building strategic customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Expansion & New Business Development
- Identify, prospect, and acquire new enterprise customers across targeted industries.
- Develop and execute strategic territory and account plans to achieve and exceed sales targets.
- Generate and qualify opportunities through outbound prospecting, networking, events, referrals, and partner engagement.
- Strategic Account Planning
- Conduct comprehensive account research and mapping to understand organizational structures, business priorities, key stakeholders, and technology landscapes.
- Build multi-threaded relationships across business and IT decision-makers.
- Executive Engagement
- Establish trusted advisor relationships with C-level executives, business leaders, and technology stakeholders.
- Lead consultative discussions focused on business outcomes, digital transformation, compliance, governance, security, and operational efficiency.
- Solution Selling & Value Demonstration
- Articulate AvePoint's business value proposition through presentations, proposals, workshops, and executive briefings.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects and technical teams to deliver compelling solution demonstrations and customer use cases.
- Help prospects envision future-state business processes and modernization initiatives enabled by AvePoint solutions.
- Pipeline & Sales Cycle Management
- Manage a healthy sales pipeline and maintain accurate forecasting within CRM systems.
- Navigate complex enterprise sales cycles, address objections, and negotiate commercial agreements successfully.
- Consistently achieve or exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets.
- Customer Growth & Expansion
- Develop account growth strategies and identify opportunities for cross-sell and upsell initiatives.
- Work closely with Customer Success and Delivery teams to ensure successful customer onboarding and long-term value realization.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Marketing, Pre-Sales, Professional Services, Customer Success, and Channel teams to drive customer acquisition and growth.
- Contribute market insights, customer feedback, and competitive intelligence to support GTM initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
Required Experience
- 5-10 years of quota-carrying B2B enterprise software sales experience.
- Proven success in hunting, acquiring, and growing enterprise accounts.
- Demonstrated track record of consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets.
- Technology Knowledge
- Strong understanding of cloud technologies, SaaS platforms, cybersecurity, data governance, digital workplace solutions, or enterprise applications.
- Ability to quickly understand and communicate complex technology solutions and business value.
- Enterprise Sales Expertise
- Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles.
- Strong prospecting and account planning capabilities.
- Experience engaging CIOs, CISOs, CTOs, Heads of IT, Digital Transformation leaders, and business executives.
- Communication & Negotiation Skills
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and executive communication skills.
- Strong negotiation, objection-handling, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Market Knowledge
- Solid understanding of the Malaysian enterprise business landscape.
- Established network within enterprise, government, GLC, financial services, telecommunications, manufacturing, or other key industries is advantageous.
