About the Role
We are seeking a Lead Platform & Security Architect to shape the evolution of Atlas, FSAI’s enterprise AI platform, with particular accountability for strengthening the platform’s security architecture and enterprise trust capabilities.
This is a senior, hands-on architecture leadership role spanning agentic platform and runtime architecture, identity and security controls, enterprise integration, deployment portability and technical governance. You will translate product strategy, customer requirements and regulatory obligations into clear architectural patterns that engineering teams can implement, validate and operate.
The role will be based in Australia and act as a senior technical counterpart to enterprise architects, CTOs, CISOs and security and risk teams at customers, particularly in regulated industries. You will work across Product, Engineering, Applied Science, Delivery and Risk/Compliance, providing cross-domain architectural direction without duplicating Engineering’s delivery.
We need someone with deep security architecture expertise and broad distributed-systems judgement: able to strengthen the current platform while challenging assumptions, reducing operational complexity and helping Atlas scale across different customer environments and routes to market.
Key Responsibilities
Platform & Product Architecture
-
Define and evolve Atlas’s target-state architecture, including AI worker execution, orchestration, runtime boundaries, control-plane services, lifecycle management, integration interfaces and enterprise governance
-
Translate Product strategy and customer use cases into reusable platform capabilities and architectural principles, balancing security, performance, reliability, portability, cost and speed of adoption
-
Evaluate architectural alternatives to infrastructure-heavy deployments, including composable services, portable runtimes and different managed or customer-hosted execution models; use prototypes and evidence to test assumptions
-
Define consistent architecture contracts and trust boundaries for AICWs, tools, models, third-party services and customer systems, in partnership with relevant engineering and applied-science specialists
-
Guide supported deployment and integration patterns across cloud and customer-managed environments, including the operational and commercial trade-offs of each model
Security Architecture & Enterprise Trust
-
Own Atlas platform security architecture and reference patterns for identity, delegated and workload access, least privilege, segmentation, secrets, encryption, key management, secure connectivity and data residency
-
Lead threat modelling and architecture security reviews for agentic execution, tool invocation, model and data flows, multi-tenant isolation, customer integrations and material platform changes
-
Define technical safeguards for agentic AI systems, including tool permissions, execution boundaries, untrusted inputs, sensitive-data handling, auditability and human approval for consequential actions
-
Translate applicable requirements from frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST, PCI DSS, HIPAA and relevant privacy or financial-services expectations into platform control designs, documented control mappings and deployable patterns
-
Partner with Risk/Compliance to identify control ownership, assurance evidence and gaps; provide technical leadership for customer due diligence and independent assessments without assuming ownership of company-wide compliance certification
-
Set security architecture standards for secure software delivery, software supply chain, vulnerability prioritisation, artefact integrity, policy as code, evidence capture and monitoring; work with Engineering and operations owners on implementation
-
Define security observability, audit-log integrity, forensic readiness and incident-support architecture in conjunction with platform operations and incident-response owners
Architecture Governance & Implementation Assurance
-
Lead or co-chair technical reviews within the Architecture Review Board, establish decision thresholds, and document significant decisions using architecture decision records and reference architectures
-
Work directly with principal engineers to validate designs through prototypes, implementation reviews, acceptance criteria and production feedback; detect and resolve architectural drift
-
Maintain a visible architecture runway and prioritised register of architectural risks, technical debt, exceptions and capability gaps in partnership with Product and Engineering
-
Create practical 101/201/301-level technical architecture materials that explain Atlas’s differentiated capabilities, trust model and supported deployment patterns to different customer audiences
Customer & Cross-Functional Technical Leadership
-
Act as an Australia-based architecture authority for strategic customer CTO, enterprise-architecture, CISO and risk discussions, especially where security, governance, operating model or deployment assurances are material to adoption
-
Partner with Delivery and solution architects on repeatable enterprise patterns and exception handling; distinguish reusable platform requirements from customer-specific solutions
-
Influence Engineering, Product, Applied Science and executive stakeholders through clear options, evidence, trade-offs and recommendations, rather than design mandates alone
-
Mentor architects and principal engineers, improve architecture practices and help identify capability gaps; exercise technical leadership without default line management of platform engineering teams
Minimum Qualifications
-
10+ years in software/platform architecture or senior engineering roles, with substantial technical architecture leadership in enterprise products or distributed systems
-
Demonstrated depth in cloud and application security architecture, including identity and access management, workload/service identity, network trust boundaries, secrets, encryption, threat modelling and secure system design
-
Practical experience translating regulated-enterprise control or assurance requirements into implementable technical architecture, with direct participation in customer security reviews and/or external assurance activities
-
Strong knowledge of cloud-native and distributed-system architectures, including orchestration, asynchronous processing, resilience, observability and operational lifecycle management
-
Ability to reason across multiple deployment substrates and cloud providers, and understand Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD sufficiently to challenge designs and work effectively with specialist engineers; deep Kubernetes administration is not required
-
Experience establishing architecture standards, reviewing complex technical designs and ensuring architectural decisions are carried through into implementation
-
Excellent communication and influencing skills, including credibility with senior customer technical leaders, security teams and internal engineering stakeholders
-
Hands-on technical judgement demonstrated through design validation, prototyping, implementation reviews or solving complex production architecture problems
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience architecting B2B enterprise platforms delivered into regulated customer environments, particularly banking, financial services or healthcare
-
Experience with agentic AI systems, model and tool integration, runtime governance, AI security risks and frameworks such as NIST AI RMF or ISO/IEC 42001
-
Experience evolving complex, tightly coupled deployments toward portable, composable or productised platform capabilities
-
Experience across more than one of AWS, Azure or GCP, including customer-managed cloud and private connectivity models
-
Knowledge of secure software supply chains, SBOMs, policy-as-code and automated control evidence
-
Relevant security qualifications such as CISSP or CCSP; practical experience and judgement take precedence over certification
Measures of Success
-
Clear, adopted target-state architecture and decision-making standards for Atlas, with engineering implementation aligned to approved patterns
-
A documented and validated platform security architecture, with prioritised control gaps and credible customer-facing assurance evidence
-
Measurable reduction in avoidable deployment complexity, architectural exceptions and recurring customer security escalations
-
Improved confidence among enterprise customer technical and risk stakeholders in Atlas’s security, governance and operational model
