About the Role
Growing fast in a regulated market only works when compliance is a partner, not a gate. In our Mexico Compliance team, you'll make sure the products millions of customers use every day are built on solid regulatory ground, from the first design conversation, not after launch.
You'll sit closest to the teams doing the building and own the regulatory view for your assigned areas. Product, engineering, fraud, and operations will come to you with real decisions: can we launch this, how do we structure it, what does the regulator expect?
Your job is to turn dense regulation into answers people can act on, and to be accountable for the quality of the guidance Nu builds on.
You'll be responsible for
Partner with product, engineering, and design teams to embed Mexican regulatory requirements into new products and features before they ship.
Translate CNBV, Banxico, and CONDUSEF regulation into clear, actionable guidance that non-compliance teams can build against.
Advise fraud, operations, and customer experience teams on the regulatory obligations shaping their processes and controls.
Own the regulatory assessment for your assigned areas: identify applicable requirements, flag gaps, and drive them to resolution with accountable owners.
Monitor regulatory change in Mexico, assess its impact across the product and operations roadmap, and turn new requirements into concrete work.
Build reusable playbooks and decision frameworks so teams can self-serve on recurring regulatory questions.
Represent Compliance in cross-functional forums, escalating risk decisions with a clear point of view and a recommendation.
Shape how the Compliance function scales with the business by improving how advisory work is prioritized, documented, and measured.
We are looking for a person who has
Required
Experience in regulatory compliance, legal, or risk within financial services in Mexico: banking, fintech, SOFIPO, or a regulator.
Working knowledge of Mexico's financial regulatory framework, including CNBV, Banxico, and CONDUSEF.
A track record of advising non-legal audiences, such as product managers, engineers, and operations leads, and becoming the person they seek out.
The ability to turn dense regulation into simple, decision-ready guidance without losing precision.
Comfort operating in ambiguity and making judgment calls where regulation is silent or open to interpretation.
Experience influencing cross-functional teams without formal authority.
Professional fluency in Spanish and English.
Nice to have
Exposure to regulatory reporting, requirements, or inspections from CNBV, CONDUSEF, or Banxico.
Experience in a high-growth technology company or inside a scaling compliance function.
Familiarity with credit, payments, or deposit products in the Mexican market.
