About the Role
Join a small, fast-moving AI/ML team in a technical role focused on applying strong quantitative thinking to practical, ambiguous problems. This opportunity is suited to an experienced engineer or quantitative thinker who can contribute in a zero-to-one startup environment, whether or not data science has been their formal job title.
What You'll Do
Apply quantitative and engineering skills to develop practical data science and AI solutions.
Use agentic AI coding tools as part of your daily technical workflow.
Take ownership of work in an early-stage setting where problems and priorities can change quickly.
What We're Looking For
Five or more years of relevant technical experience, with an engineering or quantitative background such as AI, machine learning, software engineering, mathematics, or data science.
A quantitative degree from a highly selective university, a mathematics PhD, or equivalent depth of mathematical rigor.
Experience as an early startup hire, ideally among the first 15 employees, and the ability to work effectively in a zero-to-one environment.
Daily hands-on use of agentic AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent.
Strong practical problem-solving skills and comfort working with ambiguity. Prior retail or fresh-produce experience is not required.
Willingness to work in a high-intensity, always-on environment.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual salary range: €70,000 to €110,000. Visa sponsorship is available.
Location
Hybrid role based in Berlin, Germany. Candidates must be based in Berlin or willing to relocate.
