Who You Are
As a Principal Sales Engineer, you lead pre-sales technical efforts that help clients understand how Inovalon solutions fit their business needs and support revenue growth and retention. You partner closely with Business Solutions and Sales teams to develop technical strategies, strengthen client relationships, and deliver value across products and quality measures such as Risk Score Accuracy, Quality Measurement & Improvement, EHR, Pharma, Provider Score, and HEDIS. You are a subject matter expert who brings technical depth, strong judgment, and client-facing credibility to complex sales opportunities.
What You'll Do
Lead technical pre-sales activities within an assigned territory or region, helping drive opportunities and supporting sales strategies that retain and grow client revenue.
Develop and deliver complex technical proposals, presentations, and product demonstrations tailored to client business needs and technical environments.
Partner with Business Solutions and Sales teams to shape sales approaches, support attainment of sales quotas, and provide technical responses for RFIs and RFPs.
Analyze client needs and design solution approaches that align Inovalon products with client goals, including custom technical designs for complex opportunities.
Advise clients and internal partners on product functionality, integration, usage, features, availability, and strategic fit within client environments.
Build technical relationships across all levels of client management and communicate proactively to support successful technical sales campaigns.
Serve as a regional resource for technical expertise and best practices, sharing knowledge and providing first-level escalation support, direction, and mentoring to colleagues.
Advocate for clients during pre-sales activities and support limited post-sales needs when necessary to help ensure continuity and satisfaction.
Collaborate with internal partners to strengthen technical capabilities and competencies that contribute to successful revenue generation.
Maintain current knowledge of complex product and industry topics through participation in industry organizations, forums, and client-facing presentations delivered virtually or onsite.
What You'll Need
8+ years of progressive experience in sales engineering, healthcare products, and/or Risk Adjustment, Quality Measures, EHR, Pharma, Provider, ScriptMed, or related areas, preferably in a public company.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Healthcare, Technical, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Demonstrated ability to lead successful technical sales campaigns and contribute best practices across a region or team.
Strong business solution selling skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly with clients and internal stakeholders.
Experience preparing technical proposals, presentations, and responses to product and industry questions.
Knowledge of product functionality, integration, and usage, with the ability to translate technical capabilities into client value.
Ability to learn new products, market needs, and client environments quickly, and apply that learning to improve performance as business needs evolve.
Ability to influence, collaborate with, and mentor cross-functional partners, while building trusted relationships and handling differing viewpoints constructively.
Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, client requirements, and opportunity strategies while staying focused on business outcomes.
Ability to generate practical, client-focused solutions and identify creative ways to position products within complex client environments.
Strong analytical skills to assess client business needs, evaluate strategic fit, and develop sound technical approaches based on available information.

Work Environment
This is primarily a computer-based role performed in a remote, hybrid, or office environment. The role requires prolonged periods of computer use and frequent communication and interaction with others, either virtually and/or in person. The role may occasionally require transporting or moving work-related equipment weighing up to 10 pounds, such as a laptop and related materials. Some travel may be required, depending on the needs of the role.
